Its almost here… and dang I cant wait. If I have to read anymore mail, receive any more phone calls, listen to or watch any more commercials about anyone running for any kind of political position I may leave the country… Forever. I love politics and I plan on voting tomorrow but Im just done with all the frauds with commercials that just bash their opponents and give us nothing positive or tangible to hold on to. I’ve yet to make a final decision as to which president Im voting for simply because I don’t really think either one of them will be good. So hear is a list of options to chose from.

1. Decide with the always classic coin flip or round of rock, paper, scissors.

2. Vote for the candidate which I believe is least like Jesus and will most likely lead our country closer to hell in hopes God will intervene.

3. I thought about writting in Jesus name as president but I realize this will effect nothing. The Holy Spirit wont get elected, not to mention it would make for a  weird “State of the Union” address. And as someone who is supposed to be the hands and feet of God I figure Id just be better off running myself.

4. Not voting… Which is still a possibility.

5. Voting for the better candidate… Which is hard when their both bad.

These are my ideas thus far. If anyone has any ideas they’d like to share Id love to hear them. Voting is important and I encourage all of you to take advantage of the opportunity to pick who runs our Nation. Whether you like them or not. Whether their good enough or not. Just pick one. Making a move is always better than standing still whether its right, wrong, or indifferent.

so go vote.

The Bookstore

There are days like today when I venture into the bookstore. I never really feel like I belong there. You know what I mean? Just those places you don’t feel like you belong. You don’t really have a reason why… It just feels awkward, like you don’t know what your supposed to be doing. I do read… Alot but me and the bookstore never really have a peace together. I walk in head directly to the Christian spirituality section… Which they moved by the way. I couldn’t tell you where anything else in the bookstore is. I hate when they move something when its the only thing you want to look at it, and God simply convicted me that I was boring. I go to the same section all the time and expect it to be there and get mad when I have to look elsewhere. I lack adventure through the book store.

So today I got to know my local bookstore. I came across this hysterical book called “WTF? 101 situations where your left wondering What The Fu*% To Do”. Some were certainly extremely dumb but I found myself in tears slumped over on a bookstore stool laughing at some of the most outrageous advice one could give another.

My advice to you: Let nothing about your life become boring… Because it always means your missing something great and if your at the bookstore go to the humor section and look for that book. I could almost guarantee is will make you chuckle at least a little.

In heaven

I think its natural for us to complain about the brokenness of our earth after encountering a Holy, Perfect, God for the first time or even a second time… Heck maybe even a third. We tend to use the fragility and sinfulness of ourselves and those around us to explain away the fact that God is alive in the here and the now. We just have ourselves sold out to the fact that we have to wait to get to Heaven to see God, or encounter Him or to see His Kingdom.

I think the greatest gift God has given me up to this point in my life has been over the last couple months. Its the gift of Gods Kingdom. Its the gift of a changing heart. I think we often believe God can only be found at church on Sunday morning. His face can only be partially revealed by the likes of Amazing worship services with cool lighting and crazy electric guitar rifts and deep meaningful lyrics. We can only get a glimpes of who God is by a theological, authority based sermon that overwhelms us with enough knowledge to make us realize were not even sure if the God in John is the same guy in Matthew.

However lately I’ve seen God at church less and less and everywhere else more and more. This is not an excuse to not go to church but merely a testimony to the God that lives through every ray of sun peering between the clouds. The God that moves through every face Hes ever created. The Kingdom that needs to no longer be brought down from heaven because its here. Its within us, around us, between us. Lately I’ve felt like Im in heaven. Not because everything is perfect… But because Im finally beginning to see that God is everywhere, that everything is divine. Everything is not perfect, nor is perfection the point. The point is that God has created us to serve, to love, even our enemies, to give more than we recieve.

Today, look around and deep within our hearts and ask God to show us where He is. Even if we don’t want to believe God lives (In our neighbor who almost burned down our house) Or believe that He lives in our frustration from a car that stalls all the time. God never came to make you happy, He came to make you realize you need Him and the more we realize we need Him the more we notice Hes here, and to me, being around God makes me feel like Im in Heaven.
